Man charged with domestic battery and strangulation after argument

Bloomington police charged Aaron Chandler, 35, with domestic battery and strangulation Sunday.

BPD responded to a call at 2026 S. Oakdale Drive from a female complainant, who said Chandler hit her across the face in front of their children and covered her mouth and nose with his hand to stop her from screaming.

BPD Capt. Steve Kellams said the woman told police that the assault happened after Chandler fell asleep while preparing a bath for the
children.

The two began to argue and Chandler hit her across the left side of her face with the back of his hand. The children were there when the woman was hit. After this, Chandler left the residence.

The woman began to scream for police and attempted to call her mother. Chandler took her phone away and covered her mouth and nose with his hand to prevent her from screaming further.

The woman had visible swelling and redness on the left side of her face from the attack, and Chandler was later booked and charged by police for battery and strangulation.
