14 women's soccer players named Academic All-Big Ten

More than 80 percent of the eligible IU women’s soccer players were named Academic All-Big Ten by the conference Wednesday.

IU had 14 honorees of 17 players eligible for the award. The Hoosiers’ 14 award winners were tied for fourth-most among Big Ten schools.

“Being a student athlete at this caliber of an institution takes an incredible amount of dedication and commitment,” IU Coach Amy Berbary said. “While this award is a tremendous personal achievement, the success is also a credit to our outstanding academic advisor, Eileen O’Rourke, and her undivided attention and commitment to pushing everyone within our program to their full potential.”

Seniors Rebecca Dreher and Bekah White were recognized with the award for the fourth time in their careers, the maximum possible.

Seniors Tori Keller, Kristin Leist, Abby Smith, Jordan Woolums and junior Jen Stanley earned recognition for the third time. Juniors Jessie Bujouves, Rachel Romero and Sarah Stone were recognized for the second time.

First-time winners were sophomores Marissa Borschke, Veronica Ellis, Katie Gruelich and Lauren Joray.
