FINAL: IU 49, North Texas 24

Senior receiver Shane Wynn celebrates with freshman Jordan Fuchs after Wynn scored a touchdown in IU's game against North Texas on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

IU defeated North Texas 49-24 to finish the nonconference schedule 3-1 on Saturday.

IU (3-2, 0-1) got off to an ideal start with an interception in North Texas territory by freshman linebacker Tegray Scales on the first possession of the game.

IU would capitalize on the short-field by moving the ball 31 yards with seven plays, ending with a touchdown by junior running back Tevin Coleman. The score was the 14th consecutive game with a touchdown for Coleman.

IU Coach Kevin Wilson gambled on the ensuing kickoff with an onsides attempt. The Hoosiers recovered and went 51-yards for a second touchdown from junior quarterback Nate Sudfeld to freshman tight end Jordan Fuchs.

For Fuchs, the touchdown grab was the first of his career.

Senior wide receiver Shane Wynn caught his first touchdown of the season with only 32 seconds left in the first quarter when Sudfeld found him open for a 45-yard score to go up 21-0 just before the end of the first quarter.

That would be the last score for IU in the half.

North Texas (2-3) would get on the scoreboard with 1:34 remaining in the opening half with an 11-play, 80-yard drive to make it a 21-7 game at halftime.

IU opened the second half with an 8-play, 77-yard drive capped off by a 47-yard rushing score by senior running back D’Angelo Roberts.

Roberts would score again on a 3-yard rush with IU’s next possession. That score was setup by a 74-yard rush by Coleman.

North Texas responded with a field goal to cut the deficit to 25.

In an almost identical play to his first touchdown, Wynn would pick up a second score of 76 yards to go along with his earlier 45-yard score to make it 42-10.

North Texas responded with 14 unanswered points to make it an 18-point game with 9:21 remaining, but that would be the last time the Mean Green would score.

IU would add a rushing touchdown by freshman Devin Redding—the first in his career—in the final minute of the game.

Nate Sudfeld bounced back from a rough outing against Maryland to finish 23-of-29 passing for 230 yards and three touchdowns.

Wynn had five catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Isaiah 'Zeke' Roundtree had six catches for 29 yards.

Coleman led IU's rushing attack with 150 yards and a touchdown off of 17 carries.

Roberts used 14 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns to set personal career marks in both yards and touchdowns scored in a single season.

Freshman receiver J-Shun Harris was active early in the game, but left early in the first quarter. He never returned, but injury status was not immediately available.
