Shooter leaves high school girl wounded

A shooting near Arsenal Tech high school in Indianapolis left a 17-year-old student with injuries to her shoulder Tuesday, according to Indianapolis Police.

A 19-year-old, who was not a student at Arsenal Tech, fired six shots at the girl outside the school. One shot hit her shoulder. When she ran into the school to get help, the suspect fled.

Two buildings on the high school’s campus were put on lockdown, which was lifted at 1:45 p.m.

The suspect turned himself in to Indianapolis police at about 2:15 p.m.

According to police, the two people involved may have been in a relationship at one time, but the girl had a restraining order against the man.

The incident started with an argument between the two.

The girl was taken to Eskenazi Hospital and is in good condition.
