Motorist killed in two-car crash

A motorist died in a two-car accident Wednesday on State Road 46.

While driving east on SR 46, one of the drivers involved in the crash crossed a patch of ice, which caused the driver to lose control approaching a curve in the road, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Michael Pershing said.

The vehicle crossed the center line and collided into another westbound car, striking it in the front passenger side.

Because the coroner had not yet notified the deceased drivers’ family, Pershing would not say which driver had died, nor offer any other information about their identities.

The other driver, who survived but suffered injuries, was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, Pershing said.
