Gov. Mike Pence named appointees to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) Nominating Committee Tuesday.
Each member will serve a four-year term, which will end Dec. 31, 2017.
“Through their work to fill vacancies on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, the members of the Nominating Committee ensure a thorough, balanced nominating process for the benefit of Hoosier utilities customers,” Pence said in a press release.
Gwendolyn Horth, one of the nominees, will serve as the IURC Nominating Committee Chair. She has previously served as the Washington Township Trustee in Marion County for three terms.
While trustee, Horth helped consolidate fire services with the Indianapolis Fire Department in 2006.
She is also a founding board member of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana and a graduate of Valparaiso University.
Eric Scroggins has also been appointed to the Nominating Committee. He is currently the vice president, general counsel and secretary of Allison Transmission, Inc.
He has also worked within the Indiana State Personnel Department.
Scroggins has been the recipient of a variety of awards, including the Graduate of the Last Decade Award from Ball State University, a Distinguished Hoosier from Governor Frank O’Bannon and Indy’s Best and Brightest Lawyer from Junior Achievement.
He is a graduate of Ball State University and received his law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
John Blevins is the third nominee to the Nominating Committee. He is an attorney and former teacher.
He has served three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives and has received degrees from Anderson University and the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
The Nominating Committee nominates three candidates for each open position on the IURC. The Governor then selects one to serve on the IURC.
“I am grateful to the individuals who have agreed to serve on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission Nominating Committee and look forward to working with them in the future to appoint principled and knowledgeable leaders to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission,” Pence said in a press release.
