Woman found dead in yard

A 63-year-old woman was found dead in a yard along East Hillside Drive Tuesday afternoon. Police do not believe foul play was involved.

BPD officers responded to the report of a possibly deceased person near East Hillside Drive and South High Street at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, BPD Capt. Joe Qualters said.

Passers-by walking their dogs made the call, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman’s death was possibly medical-related or the result of natural causes, Qualters said.

Qualters said a mailbox was knocked down at the scene.

Streets in the area were blocked off by police while investigators were on the scene. Traffic returned to normal before 3:15 p.m.

An autopsy did not determine a cause of death, Cole said. A toxicology report is still pending.
