Man dies from heart attack after walking on B-Line Trail

Anthony Emmett, 65, died after walking on the B-Line Trail Saturday.

At 11:18 a.m., officers responded to the report of a man having a possible heart attack between West Country Club Drive and West Grimes Lane on the B-Line Trail.

Officers arrived at 11:20 a.m., administered CPR and used an automated external defibrillator until paramedics arrived, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said.

Emmett was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and pronounced dead. A cause of death has not been confirmed, Cole said.

Emmett is the husband of Erna Alant, professor and Otting Chair in special education in the IU School of Education, said Chuck Carney, director of communications and media relations for the IU School of Education.
