Man reportedly stabbed by 70-year-old after altercation

Police responded around 1:50 a.m. Friday to a call from a 29-year-old man who reported being stabbed by a 70-year-old man he knew on the 600 block of East Sherwood Hills Drive, according to the Bloomington Police Department.

The victim sustained a puncture wound to his lower back and was transported to IU Health hospital.

A physical altercation was reported prior to the stabbing in the parking lot between the two men when the older man came to the aid of the victim’s girlfriend, who was being verbally abused by the alleged victim. It was reported that there were witnesses.

The 70-year-old man claims he acted in self-defense. Police are continuing investigations and plan on questioning the victim
further.
