Man found dead Monday, ruled suicide

A 42-year old man was found dead in the north part of town Monday afternoon after committing suicide.

The Bloomington Police Department received a complaint at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday from a woman indicating that her ex-husband had gone missing, BPD Sgt. Joe Crider said.

The female received a text message from her ex-husband saying that he was going to “dispose of himself,” Crider said.

Later, she received another text message indicating that the man was lost and out of gasoline, Crider said. At this point, the police department had his cell phone number and began triangulating his GPS coordinates.

At 2 p.m. Monday, the man's body was found by police in the area of Acuff and Prow Road. There were no signs of foul play or any other suspicious signs.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday. The man’s death was ruled a suicide by hanging, police said.
