BPD seeks help to identify suspect in burglary case

Local police are searching for a woman who reportedly walked into a local bank with a stolen identification card and attempted to cash a $650 check.

A 21-year-old female resident of the Hamptons Apartments, 1739 N. Washington St., reported to the Bloomington Police Department that her credit card, identification card and a $650 check for rent were stolen from her handbag Nov. 7, Detective Sgt. John Kovach said.

The “pay to the order” line on the check was still blank when it was stolen, Kovach said.

Police said the suspect stole the identification card to deceive bank tellers when cashing the stolen check at Chase Bank, 2642 E. Third St., Kovach said.

Anyone who may know the identity or the whereabouts of the individual in the photo is asked to contact BPD Detective Kevin Hill at 812-349-3355.
