A woman reported to Bloomington police she was raped by her boyfriend Saturday in an apartment on the east side of Bloomington. She said the two had argued before the alleged assault.
The victim, 21, told Bloomington police Sunday she and her boyfriend had hitchhiked from an undisclosed location to an acquaintance’s residence in Bloomington, where they were staying.
At some point Friday, the woman told her boyfriend she wanted to leave, but he refused. Subsequently, he left the residence.
Bloomington Police Department Detective Sgt. John Kovach said the man returned sometime Saturday morning and began to argue with the woman again.
The two were reportedly arguing in a bedroom when the man grabbed the woman by the throat, pinned her down and raped her, Kovach said.
Bloomington police are investigating the incident. As of noon Monday, an arrest warrant for the suspect had not yet been issued.
The suspect fled the residence before the apartment’s tenant returned that morning, Kovach said.
