“A significant issue facing county government is declining tax revenues. One way to address this is to improve efficiencies in human resources by reorganizing government. This must be an inclusive process that relies upon the knowledge and experience of our county employees. My experience as a county councilor has prepared me well for this task.
“We can also increase energy efficiency in our county buildings and vehicles to help reduce costs. I was involved in the community energy project which led to the installation of solar panels on the roof of the Showers Building, which will help save taxpayer dollars and benefit the community as a whole.
“Another important task is the process of drafting new land use ordinances based upon the county’s new Comprehensive Plan. My tenure on the Plan Commission has provided me with the experience to make sound and informed decisions in this area.
“There are three key principles which will guide me as a County Commissioner: I will protect the environment; I will manage county resources wisely; and I will engage residents in county government, continuing to co-host a monthly residents’ breakfast meeting and ensuring government is accessible and responsive to the needs of residents.”
