Holocaust postal exhibit to be housed in Hillel for Remembrance Week

As part of Holocaust Remembrance Week, the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center will house “The Nazi Scourge: Postal Evidence of the Holocaust and the Devastation of Europe,” a traveling exhibit that has made stops in Poland, China and across the United States.

The exhibit, which opens today and will continue through Wednesday, features a collection of stamps, postcards, letters and other related items from concentration camps and Jewish ghettos.

The collection includes more than 250 pieces and is permanently housed in the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie, Ill.

Danny Spungen, who acquired the contents of the exhibit in 2007, will discuss the collection at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillel Center.
