Venkataramanan selected to be new vice provost

Munirpallam Venkataramanan was recently appointed vice provost for strategic initiatives for the IU-Bloomington campus.

He will oversee online education, international affairs and academic and professional advising.

Venkataramanan is associate dean of academic programs at the Kelley School of Business, where he has won numerous teaching awards.

Venkataramanan has worked at IU since 1987. He is from India and, in 2005, became the first person from India to oversee an undergraduate program with 3,000 students at a highly ranked U.S. business school.

“Venkat’s experience at Kelley will bear directly on issues of deep importance to the campus,” Lauren Robel, provost and executive vice president, said in a press
release. “He has already been providing advice on issues of online education, for example, and as vice provost for strategic initiatives, his expertise will benefit the entire campus in a more formal way.”
