Man may face two counts of rape

A 20-year-old man who resides in a downtown Bloomington apartment may face felony charges on two counts if he is convicted of rape.

A woman reported she was raped twice in two days in the man’s residence, Bloomington Police Lt. Bill Parker said.

The victim, 19, told police she started drinking with the male suspect, an acquaintance, at about 3 p.m. Thursday at his residence.

The woman reportedly became intoxicated. When she woke up at about 7 a.m. the next day, she was partially undressed and could not remember what happened, Parker said.

She asked the male if the two had relations the night before and he confirmed they had sexual intercourse.

The two continued to drink throughout the duration of the afternoon and throughout the day Friday, Parker said.

The woman went to sleep again sometime in the evening and said she woke up at about midnight to discover the male acquaintance was having intercourse with her.

She reportedly pushed the man off of her and told him to stop, Parker said.
Parker said the woman was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where a sexual assault kit was performed.
