Election Board finalizes satellite voting sites

Election Board

Bloomington residents now know where and when they can cast their votes in the 2012 general election, including an on-campus location at Assembly Hall.

The Monroe County Election Board determined four satellite voting sites Thursday for early and absentee voting.

Just as in the spring primaries, board members decided to standardize hours at these sites on weekdays, with sites open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A fifth site, the Curry Building, at 214 W. Seventh St., is the most well-known and consistently used of the voting locations, said Lorraine Farrell, the Election Board’s
democratic member.

Early voting will begin there on Oct. 9 and remain open nearly every day until Election Day on Nov. 6. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and selected Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For IU students, the closest location will most likely be Assembly Hall or the Curry Building.

Early and absentee voting begins on Oct. 9 and ends Nov. 5. Voters have until 4 p.m. on Oct. 9 to register to vote.
