Man injured in Moped towing accident

When the going got rough, Harold Harden bailed.

Harden, 46, of Bloomington reportedly purchased a dysfunctional Moped. When it wouldn’t start, he convinced his mother, 63, to tow the bike behind her 2003 Ford Taurus with a tow strap attached to the back.

Throughout the ordeal, Bloomington Police Detective Sgt. John Kovach said Harden stayed seated on the Moped.

The accident occurred sometime before 11 a.m. in front of Highland Lounge at 1933 S. Curry Pike.

Kovach said Harden lost control of the Moped when the back wheel locked.

Harden tumbled off, sustaining leg injuries and road burns. He was transported by an ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
No charges were pursued in the case.
