Firearm possession case postponed

The hearing that was to be the deciding factor as to whether Robert Redington can regain possession of his firearm collection has been postponed to Sept. 5.

Redington, of Indianapolis, was found Aug. 4 in the parking garage across from Kilroy’s Sports Bar with two loaded semi-automatic handguns and a rangefinder.

Officers discovered 40 guns in the man’s residence when they searched the premises on a warrant issued by Monroe Circuit Judge Mary Ellen Diekhoff.

Roy Graham, Reddington’s lawyer, requested the continuance of the hearing so sufficient time is allotted to review the two-hour video statement regarding the case.

“It is crucial that I review this in order to be effective in this case,” Graham’s motion to continue stated.

When Redington was detained in early August, there was concern when he questioned police officers regarding the case of missing IU student Lauren Spierer.

Diekhoff will preside at the hearing, which is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5. in the Monroe County Circuit Court.
