Lupe's back, bridging the gap

lupe fiasco

With his new mix tape “Friend of the People,” Lupe Fiasco continues to bring light to social issues with his music.

In “Lupe Back,” Fiasco references the recent police brutality at the University of California at Davis and the Occupy Wall Street protesters interrupting a speech made by President Barack Obama.

Also evident on the tape is Fiasco’s lyrical cleverness, with lines such as “watch the throne as I dance in a chair.”

Other strong tracks include “Friend of the People,” “Double Burger W/ Cheese” and “WWJD He’d Prolly LOL Like WTF!!!”

Overall, Lupe has put together a great mix tape with 12 strong tracks. His next album, “Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album,” still has no definite release date, but “Friend of the People” has done an excellent job bridging the gap.
