No new information in campus student death after 2 months

There has been no update on the cause of death for freshman Matthew Erickson, who was found dead in his Read Center dorm room Sept. 28. Erickson’s autopsy was conducted Sept. 29.

Nov. 28 marked the two-month anniversary of Erickson’s death. The cause of death would not be confirmed until after toxicology reports were returned, according to earlier reports from Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer.

She said in a Sept. 30 interview that the autopsy could take three to six weeks to be returned.

The IDS will continue to monitor any updates regarding this case.

“The last time we checked, we did not have a report from the coroner,” said IU Police Chief Keith Cash in an email Monday.
