Team finishes semester in Kalamazoo

Last Time:
At the University of Kansas Invitational, three Hoosier tennis players advanced to the final round of their respective draws. Sophomore Diana Kyllmann was victorious in her singles draw, while the freshman pair of Caroyln Chupa and Katie Klyczek placed second in their doubles draw.

The Set-up:

The team travels to Kalamazoo, Mich., to participate in the Western Michigan Invitational taking place Friday through Sunday.

The Context:
The entire team will play in this event for the first time since the adidas Hoosier Classic in Bloomington this September. Other teams participating this weekend include DePaul, Iowa State, Louisville, Penn State and Western Michigan. This is the final event of the fall semester.

Notable Quote:
“We are really looking forward to this final competition of the fall,” IU Coach Lin Loring said. “With half the team being freshmen, the staff just needs to see them play in competition. This gives us one final chance to evaluate everyone before we go into the offseason toward the end of the semester.”

Notable Number:
Five. The total number of freshmen on the team and accounting for exactly half the team.
