Hoosiers fall on road against Iowa

The Hoosiers’ road woes continue.

The IU field hockey team fell to No. 13 Iowa 4-2 to drop them to 1-4 in road matches. Senior forward Brenna Moeljadi scored both of the team’s goals.

“I don’t think we put up the energy that we needed to, to really attack Iowa,” IU Coach Amy Robertson said. “I’m not sure if it’s what Iowa did to us or what we really didn’t do to them. For whatever reason it was one of those days where your decision making isn’t what it needed to be.”

Moeljadi began the scoring in the second minute with a strike off a penalty corner. The Hawkeyes tied the game in the 17th minute and took the lead in the 30th minute, leading 2-1 at halftime. IU managed to tie the game in the 45th minute on another Moeljadi goal, but lost its momentum by allowing an Iowa score minutes later. The Hawkeyes netted their fourth goal in the 67th minute.

“We struggled a little with our attack corners,” Robertson said, “We drew a lot, which was great, but we didn’t get the output that we normally do. Our timing was off just a bit.”

IU has gone 1-3 in their last four matches. Robertson looks to make improvements during the week before a neutral site game against Providence in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday.

“I’d like to see our competitive level rise,” Robertson said. “I think we’re being soft at times we need to get after it. We can’t just be good at one thing. We have to be on our toes. It needs to be a confidence-building week and a hard week.”
