Around Campus

While many University and city events this week will focus on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, there are others happening on campus.

“Creative Teaching in an Era of Testing & Accountability” Panel Discussion

Deborah Meier, an education advocate and school reformer, will speak about the state of education in the United States.

She recently participated in the opening of a collection of her personal papers at the Lilly Library and spoke on campus, as well as at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis.

She’ll speak at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wendell W. Wright School of Education.

Big Red Eats Green

Producers and advocates of locally grown and raised foods will take part in a festival, the first-ever Big Red Eats Green event, to show students and members of the community the benefits of eating local products.

It is sponsored by the IU Office of Sustainability, the Indiana Memorial Union and Slow Food Bloomington. Local restaurants will have dishes on sale for less than $5 each.
The festival will be 3-6 p.m. Wednesday in Dunn Meadow.

Study Abroad 101

This weekly event is intended to inform students who wish to go out of the country to study.

The Office of Overseas Study will provide information about selecting a program, applying and finding financial aid to support a semester, year or summer abroad.

The event will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Office of Overseas Study, Franklin Hall 303, and will continue every Wednesday through November.
