Musiq, Magiq, Romance

musiqinthemagiq

How often have you gotten into your car to head out for the evening, with a date you’re looking to impress, only to realize your ipod is full of songs about getting obliterated and having sloppy meaningless sex?

In today’s music scene, such a problem arises more often than not with a recent deluge of overtly sexual material that, while contributing to the benefit of Mr. Kelly, may be a bit much for the rest of us.

The antidote for this problem is Music Soulchild’s “MusiqintheMagiq,” a tastefully romantic R&B album focused on the issues of love and fidelity.

This album makes use of a myriad of instrumentation, utilizing an ultra-smooth combination of horns and strings to create hits suitable for both summer driving and that “evening in” playlist you spend so much time working on.

Gems on this record include “LoveContract,” an acknowledgement of the importance of settling down with the one that was always there for you, as well as “Single,” an explanation of why you should pass on those pretty little dimes at the gas station.
“Musiqinthemagiq” exudes maturity and musicianship, a powerful combination that grooves and swings without leaving you red in the face on that first date.

Musiq Soulchild makes no attempt to revolutionize or break the mold of contemporary R&B, but presents this album as a tasteful alternative to an overtly hypersexual music culture.
