Indiana State Police Troopers arrested a felony kidnapping suspect at the Days Inn Motel in Terre Haute.
Daniel Charles Feneis, 24, of Hersey, Mich., was taken into custody Tuesday evening.
Feneis was wanted on felony kidnapping charges as well as third-degree criminal sexual conduct from the Reed City, Mich., Police Department for the abduction of a 14-year-old female, also of Hersey, Mich.
Acting on information provided by Michigan authorities that the pair may be in the Terre Haute area, trooper Jason Schoffstall located the suspect’s vehicle at the local motel. The vehicle was a 2001 silver Saturn.
Nine additional troopers and one officer from the Indiana State University Police Department arrived and surrounded the complex.
After determining the room number, troopers approached the room, forced open the door and took the suspect into custody. The girl was also taken into custody and appeared in good condition.
Feneis was later incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail.
State police currently believe the suspect and the girl knew each another before the kidnapping. Their relationship is not yet clear, and investigators are trying to determine whether Feneis used force in the kidnapping.
No Indiana charges will be sought against the girl, and she is expected to be released to her father.
It is unknown at this time if any Indiana charges will be filed against Feneis because the investigation is ongoing by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division at the Putnamville Post.
