A Good Year
Antoine Dodsen – After appearing on local television in defense of his sister who was allegedly almost raped, Dodsen’s news interview went viral on YouTube. Warning viewers that the suspect had not been caught and to “hide yo wife, hide yo kids,” Dodsen’s time on the screen was honest and unintentionally funny. From his quirky red bandana to his black wifebeater to his , Dodsen was bound for YouTube superstardom and as a quick Halloween costume inspiration. His interview was made into several musical remixes, most famously in “The Bed Intruder Song.” US Weekly reported that Dodsen had made enough money this year to move out of the projects in Alabama.
Cast of Glee – No one knew who they were a year ago, but now the cast of Glee have a tour in the works and continuously have some of the tops sports on i-tunes song charts.
Greyson Chance – After a sixth grade talent show performance of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” ended up becoming a viral YouTube hit, Greyson was asked to appear on The Ellen Show this spring. After the performance was seen by millions, the 11-year-old scored a record deal and is working on a record that is due to be out in 2011.
The Smith children – Will and Jada must be relaxing this year, because their children are now practically able to support themselves. Jaidan Smith starred in the surprising blockbuster remake of “the Karate Kid” and has signed on to make a second film. Willow, at a mere 9 years old, has people “whipping” their hair as a result of her huge hit single.
Leonardo DiCaprio – Leo has starred in two of the biggest movies of the year – Shutter Island and Inception. In both movies, audiences were taken on a twist and Leo’s complex characters were key. Will 2011 be the year Oscar finally gets an Oscar?
Kate Middleton – Kate might be having the best year out of anyone. She waited around with Prince William for eight years, but he finally popped the question. Kate will wed the prince and become a princess and heir to the throne in April of next year.
A Bad Year
Demi Lovato – Oops. Another Disney starlet was headed to rehab this fall when Lovato checked herself into rehab for undisclosed “emotional and physical issues.” Disney history might point toward drugs or alcohol abuse, but Demi’s reps refused that reasoning.
Charlie Sheen – Charlie may be one of the most-paid television stars at the moment for his role in “Two and a Half Men,” but he had more negative press than positive this year. After a wrecking a hotel room in an alleged coked-out binge, Charlie divorced his third wife at the beginning of November.
Teen Moms – “Teen Mom” might be a hit MTV show, but the stars of it aren’t having that great of a year – especially Leah’s mom, Amber. The rest of the girls might have had financial problems, paparazzi problems and parent problems, but Amber has had to deal with legal issues. After an episode aired this fall showing Amber hitting her baby’s daddy several times, local Indiana law officials started making a case against Amber.
Heidi Montag – After re-doing her whole face and body in a string of plastic surgeries earlier this year, Heidi and her famewhore husband filed for bankruptcy, faked a separation and had a (third) wedding that no one cared about. Heidi’s main source of income, “The Hills,” went off the air this summer, resulting in a void of Heidi exposure.
Who's to say?
Sandra Bullock – Yeah, Sandra found out her husband of almost five years cheated on her at the same time that the rest of the world found out. But Sandra won her first Oscar, became a mother and returned as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses in 2010.
Lindsay Lohan – She’s spent almost all of 2010 in legal troubles, but Lohan has gotten more press than she has in years.
Who had the best (and worst) 2010?
