At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, the City of Bloomington Fire Department was called when a person walking down North Dunn Street reportedly smelled smoke, according to BFD Battalion Chief Rob Stumpf.
When the BFD arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from a house located at 509 N. Dunn St.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire, Stumpf said.
Stumpf confirmed that the fire has been put out and the house has significant smoke damage.
Fire fighters suspect that it started in the kitchen and then spread to the back porch, Stumpf said.
North Dunn Street was blocked off between ninth and 10th street.
