Former IU football player arrested for alleged fraud

A former IU football player was arrested Oct. 17 for allegedly stealing another man’s credit card and using it to buy sports apparel.

Kenneth L. Love Jr., 24, was arrested for fraud and receiving stolen property after he used the stolen credit card to purchase sports apparel, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Jeff Canada said.

Love was the assistant manager at Lids, a sports hat store in the College Mall, and was arrested at a sports bar.

Officers totaled the amount of stolen items to $982.57, Canada said.

A man told BPD he left his credit card in Lids in August and noticed three separate charges to Foot Locker the day his card went missing.

A Foot Locker employee reportedly gave police a physical description that matched Love after police traced the credit card’s records.

Love, a redshirt freshman on the IU football team in 2004, played as a defensive lineman and majored in recreational sports management. He holds no degree from IU, according to the IU Alumni Association Online Directory.
