BPD arrests man for allegedly stealing his girlfriend’s ‘Batmobile’

A man was arrested on preliminary charges on Wednesday by Bloomington Police Department after his girlfriend said he drove away in her “Batmobile” parked on West Eighth Street.

Police found George A. Langley, 23, a Monroe County resident, driving the tan Nissan Ultima with yellow and black Batman symbols on the trunk and hood, BPD Lt. David Drake said.

Langley led police on a short chase down South Madison Street and eventually Third Street where he ran a stoplight and then a stop sign at Third and Jackson streets before police called off the chase.

The car was found parked about 15 minutes later, at about 10 a.m., on Lincoln Street, south of Kirkwood.

Langley was found minutes later wearing blue leopard print pajamas on Sixth Street in front of the Runcible Spoon.

Langley was arrested for several traffic violation charges, as well as battery and strangulation  charges which were related to a situation his girlfriend said happened one day prior.
