Bloomington Transit announced today it is the recipient of the American Public Transportation Association’s 2010 Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement Award.
The award was given under the category of systems that have less than 4 million annual ridership.
“This is the highest and most prestigious award in our industry,” BT general manager Lew May said in a press release. “We are so pleased, humbled and proud to receive this award.”
Each year APTA names a transit system as the outstanding system in several size categories.
Systems are evaluated based on criteria such as operations, safety, customer service, environmental sustainability, financial management, workforce development, attendance and employee costs, marketing, community relations, and policy and administration.
