A victim was struck with a bat early Sunday when trying to ward off two suspects who were vandalizing an SUV.
When the victim, a 39-year-old male, tried to chase away two baseball bat wielding men at 4:11 a.m., one of the suspects turned around and struck him.
The two suspects were hitting the green SUV with the bat before the suspect intervened, according to a Bloomington Police Department report read by Sgt. Jeff Canada.
A neighbor dialed 911, and police arrived at 2329 S. Rockport Road. The victim, who was not the owner of the vehicle, did not want to press charges and declined medical attention. He shielded himself with his left arm, which resulted in bruises, according the report read by Canada.
Both men were described by the victim as being clean-cut and in their twenties. They got into a red Toyota four-door, which was driven by a third man and drove off, according to the report.
BPD are investigating the incident and are trying to locate people who may have had any disputes with the owner of the SUV.
