IU Student Association’s Congress unanimously accepted a new set of bylaws, said Speaker of the House and sophomore Farihah Hossain.
The new bylaws include revised appendices, updated definitions of directorial and internal congressional positions and a stipulation mandating a more frequently updated IUSA Web site.
The new bylaws were developed by Congressman and junior Daniel Herman and other members of the Student Rights Committee.
The most recent version of the bylaws was accepted in 2006, and the new bylaws were developed from that document.
Other changes involved revision of Finance Committee procedures. Finance Committee members can now represent any constituency.
In the past, only student senators, those who represent residence halls, could serve on the Finance Committee.
Appendix revisions will also affect congress’s summer charter. Under the new bylaws, no summer meetings of the congress will be required.
