Fan-friendly campus

Everyone, at some point in their lives, has had an awkward period where they didn’t quite fit in. Whether you came from a small town or booming city, it wasn’t always easy finding a network of people with similar interests to your own.

However, that all changed once we came to college. There are people from every walk of life on this campus, so there is no longer any excuse to be the loner who can’t connect with anyone. The campus fan culture makes it so people can always find others to share their unique interests with.

The school’s recreational sports have become a great activity for students who want to enjoy the fun of sports without the huge commitment required by being on an official team. The friendly competition brought on by these sports creates a large network of athletes who become friends even outside of the event.

Fans of believe IU’s rec sports are so popular because they allow everyone to participate. They enjoy the large amount of competition that arises from being on IU’s large and diverse campus.

Another venue where fan culture is prominent is the IU Art Museum. A vast amount of IU students gravitate toward this place, regardless of interest in art as a hobby or as a career. The museum provides a network where artists meet and share their work.

Many older artists on campus love this place because they can share advice and strategies for younger artists to improve. The museum allows art fans to participate in various activities, including concerts where music and art collide and exhibitions where students can showcase their work.

Fans of the art museum find that giving young artists the opportunity to grow is its strongest appeal to IU students.

Many local bands that form on IU’s campus grow in popularity thanks to word of mouth, Facebook and other social networking sites, and, of course, their own talent. The indie rock trio Because We Are Human has begun to increase its number of fans in this way. They have also performed at downtown hotspots such as Rhino’s and BuffaLouie’s. Fandom has also increased thanks to fans being able to hear their music online for free through links to their Facebook fan page.

The advantage to being on IU’s campus is that the group can play a very unique kind of music and still find many ears for it. In fact, the group’s unique sound is the main thing that captures fans’ interests.

The pattern of IU fan culture continues to evolve as technology has allowed word of mouth to travel faster and more efficiently. We can network with those around us and find hobbies which are relaxing as well as challenging.

A student who enters IU’s campus leaves with a greater sense of self thanks to the indomitable spirit of the fan culture within.
