Woman accused of having frequent sex with teenage son

A 41-year-old woman is accused of having regular sex with her teenage son when he was in seventh and eighth grades, officials said.

Omaha Police said the now 15-year-old boy reported the alleged abuse last week to a counselor, who notified authorities. The boy told police his mother was addicted to prescription drugs when the alleged abuse took place in 2008 and 2009 while he lived with her.

The woman was arrested Monday, Officer Michael Pecha said. She made an initial appearance Wednesday in Douglas County Court and her bond was set at $30,000.
The teen has a younger brother, but authorities do not suspect the younger boy suffered any abuse, County Attorney Don Kleine said.

The boy’s father told Omaha television station WOWT this week that he had previously had a feeling something was wrong but didn’t learn about the alleged abuse until a few weeks ago.

He said his son is receiving counseling.

The woman will be represented by a public defender. A preliminary hearing to discuss details of the charge against her was scheduled for Feb. 8.
