Study group to host town hall about Waldron

Citizens concerned about the fate of the John Waldron Arts Center can share their input at a town hall meeting hosted by the Waldron Study Group. The eight-member, mayoral appointed citizen advisory group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend and give input regarding the possible closure of the Waldron.

The Bloomington Area Arts Council released a press statement on Jan. 7 detailing the financial distress of the organization. If unable to raise $120,000 by March 1, the BAAC will close the Waldron. The BAAC has maintained plans for classes after that date but has postponed events, including its annual Arts Leadership Awards, Gallery Director Hannah Carmichael said.
