All students can begin voting for Union Board directors today.
There are about 38 applicants for the position of 16 board of directors, said Faz Mahmud, election commissioner for the Union Board.
The polls will open at 6 p.m. today and will stay open until 6 p.m. Wednesday. When the polls open, a link will appear on the Union Board’s Web site directing students to where they can cast their vote, Mahmud said.
Before voting, students will have the opportunity to read the mission statement for each candidate, Mahmud said.
After the polls close, the eight people with the most votes will receive a position as a director, he said. On Friday, there will be a selection committee that will interview and pick eight more for the board of directors out of the remaining pool of candidates.
Mahmud said students should participate in the Union Board elections because the group uses student funds.
“It’s the voice of the students – (it’s) really important that students have a say,” Mahmud said.
