Task force releases undergraduate recommendations

A task force to enhance undergraduate education at IU released its findings today, which included 13 recommendations aimed to achieve two key goals.

The report says IU-Bloomington should focus on “changing the culture of undergraduate education” and “making it easier for undergraduates to take full advantage of academic opportunity.”

The report then highlighted specific areas that need to be improved, including a major restructuring of academic advising, improving large classes and creating online one-stop resources for academic opportunities and information.

The task force was formed by Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson, who appointed the members last December, according to a press release from the Office of the Provost.

The release says that work to implement some of the recommendations has already started.

The task force was chaired by history professor Michael McGerr as well as eight other faculty members and three undergraduate students.
