The IU Police Department is investigating an incident involving a sexual assault that occurred on Sunday morning.

A 21-year-old male student reported to IUPD on Monday afternoon that he had been sexually assaulted in the parking lot of the Student Recreational Sports Center, according to an IUPD press release.

The student said that on Sunday around 4 a.m. he separated from his friends on Lincoln Street as he walked back to his apartment on the 400 block of East Third Street, according to the release. He said he doesn’t remember much after leaving his friends but does remember waking up in an unknown vehicle in a parking lot that looked like the SRSC parking lot.

Although the student does not think he was drugged, he told IUPD he continued to go in and out of consciousness throughout the incident.

The vehicle where the incident occurred was possibly a black Pontiac make 2000-2004, according to the release.

The police report described the suspect as a dark complexioned African American male with a chubby round face. The suspect is believed to weigh 180 pounds and is 5’10 to 6’01. His name is possibly Michael or Mike.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact IUPD at 812-855-4111.
