Power-pop outfit A Rocket to the Moon surpasses its past efforts with the full-length debut, “On Your Side,” mostly because the act grasps the concept of playing to its listeners’ emotions.
Though “On Your Side” appears to follow the formula of almost every power-pop album, lead singer Nick Santino’s almost whiny voice catches the listener off-guard with its full-bore sincerity in songs such as “Like We Used To” and “Baby Blue Eyes.”
“Where Did You Go?” is fast-paced and up-beat enough to be considered heavy on the pop and should bring listeners to their feet.
The diversity of sound in “On Your Side” helps set A Rocket to the Moon apart from bands they are often compared to, such as All Time Low and The Maine.
The band allows the listener to become emotionally attached to each song and lyric easily, and along the way produce an enjoyable and commendable album.
