Apart from sports and video games, guys seem to have one thing on their minds: women.
Whether it’s about relationships, casual dating or just some good old hooking up, it seems to be a popular conversation topic among the Y-chromosome crowd. But what do these testosterone-driven males really think?
Girls, this is your chance to find out.
When it comes to dating, men have no problem knowing how to talk the talk. But is that jock in your calculus class really as alpha-male as he pretends to be when talking about his weekend conquests? Sophomore Trevor Shields said probably not, adding that men often put on this act to impress.
“Guys aren’t always as forward as you’d think they’d be,” he said.
While this may be more true of some guys than others, Shields said that many times if a guy can’t tell if a woman is interested in him, he won’t make a move for fear of rejection.
Sophomore Spencer Petry agrees that making an assumption about the other person’s feelings can cause misunderstandings.
“Both sexes always assume that the other person knows what they are feeling,” he said. “But when it comes to knowing what women are feeling, we’re just as clueless.”
Unfortunately, miscommunication tends to be at its highest when trying to determine how another person feels concerning sex.
“It’s important for people in a relationship to have a healthy sex life,” sophomore Jacob Collins said. “And although that depends on the two people, it always requires good communication.”
But Shields said the issue that causes the biggest misunderstanding isn’t the sex itself but the issue of whether or not sex is a good thing.
“People make sex out to be some awful thing, but it’s really not,” he said. “Just because you have sex doesn’t make you a bad person.”
