The IU Police Department is investigating an incident involving a sexual assault that occurred Sunday.

A 21-year-old male IU student reported to IUPD on Monday afternoon that he had been sexually assaulted in the parking lot of the Student Recreational Sports Center, according to an IUPD press release.

The student said that at about 4 a.m. Sunday he separated from his friends on Lincoln Street as he walked back to his apartment on the 400 block of East Third Street, according to the release.

He said he doesn’t remember much after leaving his friends but does remember waking up in an unknown vehicle in a parking lot that looked like the SRSC parking lot.

The student does not think he was drugged, but did report leaving
Kilroy’s Sports Bar at closing time and going to another party. He told IUPD he continued to go in and out of consciousness throughout the incident.

When he fully regained consciousness, he was at his apartment but does not remember how he got there, said IUPD Capt. Jerry Minger.

As of Tuesday afternoon the rape kit on file has yet to be processed by the state police, Minger said.

The victim thought the vehicle where the incident occurred was a black Pontiac make 2000-2004, according to the release. The suspect is a dark-complexioned African-American male with a chubby, round face.

The suspect is believed to weigh 180 pounds and is 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1. His name is possibly Michael or Mike.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact IUPD at 812-855-4111.
