Fight results in surgery

Andrew D. Robinson, 20, needed surgery to have his jaw wired shut and screws placed in his jaw after being punched early Saturday on East 15th Street, Bloomington Police Department Lt. Jimmy Ratcliff said.

Robinson, an Evansville, Ind., resident, was with IU student Alex Weinzapfel and Shawn Dick, another Evansville resident. The group of three and a group of people across the street started heckling each other. Robinson reported being struck twice by a stocky blond man.

Weinzapfel tried to pull the person off his friend and was subsequently injured, causing a wound that needed 12 stitches. A friend dropped them off at Bloomington Hospital, where they were treated.

The case is still under investigation by the BPD.
