Daniels calls voter ID ruling out of line

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels said a state appeals court ruling overturning Indiana's voter ID law is preposterous.

The court on Thursday declared the law void because it regulates voters in a way that is not "uniform and impartial."

Daniels says lawmakers had every right to pass the law in 2005. He said it is arrogant for the state appeals court to overturn it, especially since it had been fully litigated in the federal courts.

The League of Women Voters challenged the law on state constitutional grounds after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld it last year.

Daniels said he expects the decision to be appealed to the Indiana Supreme Court and be reversed.
