Number of Welcome Week excise tickets up by 21

The Indiana State Excise Police issued 84 tickets and seven warnings from Aug. 26 to Aug. 29 at IU.

The number is up from the 63 tickets that were issued during Welcome Week last year, according to a press release from the Indiana State Excise Police. In 2007, there were 181 tickets issued.

Thirty-three tickets issued were for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol, according to the press release. Indiana State Excise Police confiscated 20 false IDs during Welcome Week.
