Live music

Where to see it. How to get there.

Flight of the Concords performs at the IU Auditorium. The show was hosted by Union Board as a part of the schedule of events for Little 500 weekend in 2009.

If you spent your high school years bobbing your head at every concert within a 50-mile radius of your house, you’ll want to read this, maybe memorize, even. Here’s how to get your music fill in a college town, even if you’re underage.

The Statehouse
321 Wylie St.
An underground venue started by students as a way to bring in more all-age concerts, The Statehouse has the makings of a new IU legend. Join the house’s Facebook group for show information and updates.

Buskirk-Chumley
114 E. Kirkwood Ave.
Our pick for the best place in Bloomington to catch a live show. The Buskirk draws tons of shows, most recently indie darlings Grizzly Bear, Ben Kweller and Kimya Dawson.

Rhino’s Youth Center & All-Ages Club
331 S. Walnut St.
Admittedly, Rhino’s is generally geared toward a high school audience; however it does draw some decent bands, and admission is low.
