IU student discovered slain in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – Police said two men and an IU student were found “brutally murdered” Friday afternoon in Cedar Ridge Apartments on the far east side of Indianapolis.

Twenty-one-year-old IU student Shawnice Dunlap was one of the victims identified, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Dunlap was a rising senior who had spent her first two years at IU-Bloomington and her junior year at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis. Dunlap was identified as a 21st Century Scholar at IU.

Police were sent to the scene shortly before 1 p.m. Friday after a family member reported one of the victims had not shown up for work. Thompson said the deaths were homicides and all three “appear to have died violently.”

Police have not released the manner of death or other details but will have a press conference Monday.

The two other victims were identified Friday night as 19-year-old Devon Bledsoe and 22-year-old Jerromey Wingfield, both of Indianapolis.
