In an effort to increase IU's sustainability, the University has named Indianapolis architect William M. Brown as the first director of sustainability.
Brown is experienced in the construction and design of environmentally sustainable buildings, according to an IU press release.
Brown is expected to start the position March 2, according to the press release. He will be working with Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson and Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Terry Clapacs to create a campus sustainability program.
"Indiana University-Bloomington is indeed fortunate that Bill Brown will be its first director of sustainability," Hanson said in the press release. "His years of professional experience and deep commitment to conservation will serve us well as we integrate principles of environmental sustainability into all aspects of campus operations and academic life."
Brown is currently co-chair of the Indianapolis-Marion County Green Commission, secretary of the Indiana Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and chair of the Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, according to the press release.
