Council member to organize meeting

Residents can express city concerns

City council member Isabel Piedmont-Smith will have her first monthly meeting of the new year from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rachael’s Cafe.

The meeting is a casual discussion where constituents can express their concerns about the city to Piedmont-Smith.

This is the second year Piedmont-Smith has organized these meetings. She originally got the idea from county council member Jill Lesh, who has similar meetings.

There is no formal structure to the meeting. Piedmont-Smith said the meetings have helped her connect with her constituents.

“The purpose of the meetings is twofold,” said Piedmont-Smith. “I can get feedback on current legislation, and people can also bring up pet issues they hope the city can help them with.”
