Give me the fish

Liberalism threatens “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” I am constantly amazed at the willingness of individuals to yield so much power to the hands of so few people. Liberalism asks us to put our trust in the government, big government, and those who represent it. Liberals fail to recognize, however, that one of the main reasons America exists today was to escape the political rule of despotic kings and monarchies whose centralized power – big government – controlled everyone.

Liberalism seeks to use government as the solution to our problems. Government is not the solution: Government is the problem. If liberals could, they’d make everything “free,” create a complete welfare state and universalize everything. That’s socialism. With liberalism, if you can prove you’re a victim, you’re in: The government owes you something. You are not responsible for your actions; the government is. Don’t you worry, a government program can fix this problem.

We are entitled to equitable opportunity to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are our rights. You cannot take those from us. These are God-given rights, not government-given rights. But rather than equitable opportunity – fair or impartial or just opportunity – liberals want equality – the state or quality of being equal. This is impossible. We are not all equal in the talents, gifts, or abilities that we have. As a man, I cannot do all the same things women can do, and women cannot do all the same things men can do. We are not equal in this way. That’s reality – accept it. However, we should all have equitable opportunity to reach the heights and the depths we strive toward without the government standing in our way. Liberalism’s big government stands in our way. Liberalism’s big government does not create equitable opportunity. It hinders it.

Rather than defeat evil, liberals will negotiate with it. Rather than teach a man to fish, liberalism just gives you the fish. Rather than stand up for all innocent human life, liberals will willingly kill human life (i.e. abortion). Liberals use the government as a medium to redistribute wealth (i.e. stealing), liberals play the politics of fear, making up something that doesn’t even exist (i.e. global warming) and fail to recognize something that does exist (i.e. radical Islamic fundamentalism). Liberals will restrict your Constitutional right to protect yourself with a firearm, tell you the government will protect you instead, and then cut military spending. Liberals blatantly exploit gender and race politics claiming to help women and minority groups by defining the differences with everyone else they have rather than the similarities with everyone else they share. Liberals continue to subsidize the welfare state without improving the conditions of those who actually live on welfare. Without race, gender and poverty politics – core constituency groups of the Democrat Party – liberal Democrats could not get elected into office.

Liberalism constantly sways with the political wind of the season holding on to little or no values. Liberalism will take away your life, take away your liberty, and then how could there possibly be any pursuit of happiness?
